Getting to Victoria!
We journeyed to Victoria by truck from Provost, Alberta to prepare for the big day.
Publicity….CBC Radio
We were interviewed on Monday, March 19th by Paul Vasey, host of CBC Radio’s “On the Island” show and the interview aired on Tuesday morning at 7:40 am.
Thanks to Paul, his co-workers and the CBC for allowing the use of the interview for this newsletter.
(The sound clip is a RealMedia file (.ram) if you do not have Real Player on your computer you can download it here.)
Publicity….Victoria Times Colonist
Denise Helm, the Day News Editor at the Victoria Times Colonist, dispatched reporter Jeff Bell to the marina to interview us and T.C. photographer Bruce Stotesbury arrived to catch some great shots on a beautiful sunny (but very windy) afternoon.
Publicity….CHEK TV
Photographer Alan Walton from CH also showed up with his news camera to grab some footage for Chek TV.
Publicity...The Newsletter...
Any publicity generated along the way, including traffic to our website and subscriptions (free) to the newsletter, will help us get better buys on gear from our suppliers, so if you know anybody who may be interested in receiving the newsletter, please pass the word. All copies of the newsletter will be archived on the website.
The Winds…
High winds prevented the us from actually getting away on both Tuesday and Wednesday but the exercise served to give us a little shake down paddle and also gave Taq his first taste of salt water.
Diminished winds on Thursday made it possible to finally push off and put our first 15 kilometres of paddling behind us. We welcomed the chance to start using our muscles.
Anyone willing to be a re-supply location?
Depending on our progress, we’ll need to re-supply every few weeks. That involves buying fresh food, and picking up maps and supplements. Unfortunately, we don’t know people at each place we must stop. From time to time, we’ll need help from volunteers. This would consist of holding a re-supply package that comes in the mail until we pass through. Please keep an eye on our newsletter for upcoming places where we will need this type of help.
A very big thank you to Regenesis
We would like to extend a very big thank you to the wonderful people at Regenesis Holistic Inc. – Glenn and Mary Fidler and their staff, Alisha (for her hours on the computer) and Thu. They have spent countless hours building this website and newsletter – all for free! There is no way we could have done it without their great suggestions and support. If you are going to buy from a health food store – please support the good folks at Regenesis: www.regenesis.ca
