The Projected Route...

Route Description

–Our journey began March 22 from Victoria BC, we paddled north through the Strait of Georgia. After rounding Cape Caution we paddled northeast to Kitimat, with a stop at Bella Bella. –We portaged Coast Range between Kemano and Tahtsa Lake (55km). After a 3 month hiatus to let the Nechako River’s 100-year flood subside, we descended to Prince George where we began ascending the Fraser River. We stopped for the winter at Penny, BC.

•2008:
– We left Penny the day the ice went out, April 29. We continued up the Fraser to Tete Jaune Cache where we portaged into the Columbia River (Kinbasket Lake). The Columbia led us up to Harrogate where we began our continental divide portage.
100km and three mountain passes later, we emerged on the Bow River. The Bow led us through Calgary, and after Saskatoon became the Saskatchewan River.
We stopped for the winter below Tobin Lake, near Cumberland House SK.

•2009:
–In early May we will continue on the Saskatchewan River into Lake Winnipeg. We will round the north and east shores to the mouth of the Bloodvein River. It will lead us through Atikaki/Woodland Caribou PP, via the Gammon River, to Red Lake ON.
After resupplying there, the Chukuni, Wenasaga, Brokenmouth and Cat Rivers will bring us to Lake St. Joseph. There we will jump over to the Misehkow, resupply again at Hwy 599, and paddle back to the Albany R. Wabakimi PP will lead us Lake Nipigon, and onto Lake Superior.
All things permitting we will round Pukaskwa NP, continue on to the Soo, into Lake Huron and up the French River.

•2010:
–Our route continues to evolve, to capture as much culture and wilderness as possible. We’re still deciding where we want to go in Quebec!

•2011:
–Ultimately we’ll end up on Newfoundland’s rocky shores, and wind up our trip with a big party in St. John’s!
